All machinery used in mining activities must be registered with the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) by August 1, 2025, the government has announced.
The directive forms part of national efforts to reform the mining sector, the government said in a statement issued on July 15.
According to the Ministry of the Interior, “equipment that remains unregistered after this deadline will be confiscated by the State.”
The Ghana Police Service and DVLA have been instructed to enforce the directive rigorously from August 2, 2025.
The Ministry further advised, “the general public, especially those who use mining machinery, are advised to take note and comply with the directive.”
It reiterated its commitment to “ensuring internal security and the maintenance of law and order in the country.”
