Former General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Ing. Kwabena Agyei Agyepong, has boldly declared that he stands out among contenders vying for the party’s flagbearership ahead of the 2028 general elections.
He emphasized that he is the surest bet for the NPP to regain the people’s trust and reclaim power in the next election.
“With me, the NPP has a clear path to unity and victory,” he said during his imminent official declaration to contest in the party’s 2026 presidential primaries.
His remarks came shortly after the NPP officially opened nominations on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, to begin the process of electing a new flagbearer for the 2028 elections.
Ing. Agyepong presented himself as the candidate capable of unifying the party and restoring its core values. He stressed that his candidacy represents the best opportunity for the NPP to secure victory in 2028.
“We cannot continue to do the same things and expect different results. We need a pair of clean hands, a clear mind, compassionate heart to lead our nation and our party. I stand ready to work with, ready to unite our ranks, ready to rebuild, and ready to restore hope for our party and every Ghanaian,” he reiterated.
He further maintained that his campaign is aimed at restoring the hope, tradition, and integrity for which the NPP was known.
“Let’s make the NPP once again the proud tradition that is for decent people to join politics under the banner of development in freedom. The time for renewal is now, time for hope is now, time for KAA is now. Ghana has to be engineered into prosperity,” Mr. Agyepong added.
Meanwhile, the party’s General Secretary, Justin Frimpong Kodua, announced that nominations will close on August 28, with the internal elections scheduled for January 31, 2026.
