Minister for Roads and Highways, Governs Kwame Agbodza, has accused former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo of peddling falsehood over claims that his administration constructed 10,800 kilometres of roads across the country.
According to him, a nationwide inspection of roads conducted following his assumption in office contradicts the remarks by the erstwhile New Patriotic Party (NPP) government.
Speaking at the Government Accountability Series in Accra on Wednesday, July 30, Mr. Agbodza indicated that it was challenging to establish the said 1000 km of roads achievement.
“We started by first of all going round the country to ascertain for ourselves what the situation on our road sector is and we did this with all our agencies across the 16 Regions.
“The summary of my visit is that it was difficult to see the 10,800km President Akufo-Addo declared at a point in time that they have done. It was difficult to see even 1000km of roads in good condition in only one location let alone 10,800km,” he stated.
The minister pointed out and established that “obviously, what the President said at the time was not factual.”
