Former Black Stars skipper John Mensah has expressed optimism about Ghana’s prospects of reaching the 2026 FIFA World Cup, stressing that recent performances give reason for hope.
The national team has recorded victories in its last two fixtures, securing consecutive clean sheets, a run that has boosted confidence and strengthened belief in the squad’s potential.
Reflecting on the team’s progress, Mensah pointed to the growing cohesion and understanding among the players, while emphasising the importance of maintaining momentum.
“If they play like the way they played the last two games, I believe they can qualify. They are playing well now and they know each other very well. I believe if they keep on like that, they can qualify,” he stated in a recent interview.
Ghana’s next challenge will be a double-header against Chad and Mali, beginning with an away fixture against Chad on Matchday 7, before hosting Mali on Matchday 8.
Both matches are scheduled between September 1 and 9, 2025.
