The Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO) has clarified allegations that it contacted Frederick Kumi, also known as Emmanuel Kojo Baah Obeng and Abu Trica, weeks before his arrest.
In a statement issued and signed by the Head of Public Affairs to the Executive Director of EOCO on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, the office assured the public that such speculations are false.
“EOCO wishes to inform its stakeholders and the general public that the office did not, on any occasion, contact ‘Abu Trica’ before the arrest, as is being speculated.”
This statement is related to the controversies following the arrest of “Abu Trica,” who was apprehended for a romance scam.
EOCO further urged the public to report crimes and pledged its commitment to serving the country.
“The office remains committed to fighting economic and organized crime and urges the public to continue reporting these crimes.” the statement highlighted.
