Majority Leader, Mahama Ayariga, has announced that the government will soon introduce a Legislative Instrument (LI) to regulate noise pollution from various sources across the country.
Speaking at a media engagement during the first meeting of the second session of the ninth Parliament, Ayariga highlighted the growing concern of noise pollution, which has negatively affected the health and well-being of residents in many communities.
“The excessive noise from music and certain religious activities has made it difficult for some people to rest, particularly in residential areas.
“People cannot sleep because others are playing loud music or engaging in religious activities, sometimes in neighbourhoods where residents prefer a quieter environment,” Mr. Ayariga stated.
He emphasized that noise pollution has become a major hazard in communities, and the government is committed to addressing the issue through the new LI.
