A 25-year-old excavator operator, Gausu Yusif, has been shot dead after unknown gunmen reportedly opened fire on him while he was working at a quarry site in the Awutu Kwame Whettey Forest in the Central Region.
Information gathered by Angel News’ Opanin Darko indicated that Yusif’s workmate, identified as Charles Essuman, sustained multiple gunshot wounds and is currently battling for his life.
Reports suggest that the incident occurred while the two were grading a quarry site in the Awutu Kwame Whettey Forest on Tuesday, February 3, 2026.
According to preliminary findings, Yusif and Essuman had been assigned to create a path into the forest to collect rock samples for a proposed stone quarry.
While carrying out their duties, the report added, unknown assailants on a motorcycle suddenly arrived at the site and opened fire on them without provocation. The attackers reportedly fled the scene immediately after committing the heinous act.
