In a significant move to deepen bilateral cooperation, the Governments of Ghana and Zambia have signed ten key Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) and agreements across several strategic sectors.
The agreements include; “MoU between the Zambia Development Agency and the Ghana Export Promotion Authority: This MoU aims to enhance trade and investment opportunities between the two countries.
“Cooperation in the Field of Disaster Risk Management: This initiative seeks to improve preparedness and response capabilities in the face of natural disasters.
“MoU between the Zambia Bureau of Standards and the Ghana Standards Authority in the Area of Standardization and Conformity Assessment: This agreement focuses on improving product standards and quality assurance.
“Waiver of Visa Requirements for Holders of Diplomatic, Official/Service, and Ordinary Passports: This waiver will facilitate easier travel and diplomatic engagements between the two nations.
“Military Defence Cooperation: This agreement aims to strengthen the defence capabilities and collaboration between Ghana and Zambia.
Diaspora Cooperation: This initiative seeks to encourage engagement and support for citizens living abroad.
“Rules of Procedure for the Joint Defence Implementation Committee between Zambia and Ghana: This framework will guide cooperative defence efforts.
“Bilateral Air Service Agreement between the Republic of Ghana and the Republic of Zambia: This agreement sets the foundation for enhanced air travel and connectivity.
“Cooperation in the Field of Health: This partnership aims to improve healthcare services and responses to health challenges.
“Collaboration between the Zambia Medicines Regulatory Authority and the Food and Drugs Authority of Ghana: This initiative focuses on ensuring the safety and efficacy of medicines and related products in both countries.”
These agreements mark a significant step in fostering mutual growth and understanding, fortifying the relationship between Ghana and Zambia as they venture into new realms of cooperation.
