The final funeral rites for the Tema aircraft victims, slated for Saturday, March 28, 2026, at the State House, the Wettey and Donkor families announced.
In a statement, it said the final funeral rites for the victims, Captain Frank Amoanyi Donkor and Elijah Ofori Donkor, would be held at the Forecourt of the State House in Accra.
The announcement follows the tragic helicopter crash at Tema, leaving the two siblings dead on Monday, March 16.
”Today marks exactly one week since we lost our beloved sons in the tragic microlight aircraft crash at Tema,” the statement noted.
In their moment of grief, the family expresses their sincerest appreciation to President John Dramani Mahama for his support in sending a delegation, led by the Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, to commiserate with the families.
They further expressed gratitude to other members of Parliament and authorities for their unending support.
”We are equally grateful to the Chief of Staff for approving the funeral service to be held at the Forecourt of the State House.
”We also extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Minister of Education, Mr. Haruna Iddrisu, for personally commiserating with the families during this difficult period,” the family said.
The statement continued: ”We further wish to thank the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, for his support and for sending a high-powered delegation to mourn with us.
”We are particularly grateful to the delegation, led by the Minority Leader, Osahene Alexander Afenyo-Markin, and Mr.Fredrick Opare Ansah, Campaign Manager for Dr. Bawumia.
”We deeply appreciate the overwhelming love, prayers, and support received from all Ghanaians. Your kindness and solidarity continue to give us strength in this time of grief,” the family acknowledged.
They called on all sympathisers, including the clergy, members of the Diplomatic Corps, friends, and well-wishers to the finial rites.
