A police officer has met his untimely death in a road accident at Aseseso on the Somanya-Adukrom highway in the Eastern Region.
Two others sustained serious injuries and have been hospitalised and are receiving medical attention.
The incident reportedly occurred on Saturday, March 21, involving a police Rhino Kia mini-truck traveling from Begoro to Ashiaman.
According to the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), there were three male occupants on board the accident vehicle.
It explained that while the vehicle was descending the Aseseso hill, the driver lost control due to a gear lever fault, resulting in the fatality, with others sustaining injuries.
“A police Rhino Kia mini truck with three male occupants lost control due to a gear lever fault, resulting in one fatality, the driver, a police officer,” the statement reads.
Fire personnel promptly rescued the two survivors, who were conveyed to Yilo Krobo District Hospital for treatment.
