The Ga Central Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Emmanuel Adotey Allotey, has stated that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) should present superior policy alternatives to the government instead of resorting to nuisance.
Speaking on Angel TV on Tuesday, 31 March 2026, he emphasised that the NPP should sit down and draft better policies than those of President Mahama to increase their share of the vote.
He argued that the NPP has persistently criticised barely every decision of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) but failed.
“They started something from up-bottom approach which means they are lost and do not know what they are doing. Every issue they take get out of hands you see they have stopped talking about cocoa when Ivory Coast price reduced, just thirteen months ago it was in your hands and everything was messed, your performance was monumentally abysmal,” he stated.
Mr Allotey also accused the NPP of abusing sole-sourcing while in office, awarding almost 100% of contracts under that modality.
He said President Mahama is adhering to the constitution, awarding about 44% of contracts under sole-sourcing to expedite road works, and that this percentage will likely be reduced further as audits proceed.
He praised the president’s transparency over the sole-sourcing documents, saying the media should “organise a thank you service for President Mahama” for instructing the Roads Minister, Governs Agbodza, to make the documents available to the fourth estate and the nation, even though the president knew the documents were already posted to their various websites.
“You the media should organise a thank you service for president Mahama because all the documents was on their website but when the fourth estate asked a question he ordered the minister to open all the documents and give details of the contracts under sole-sourcing to them, no president has done this before,” he uttered.
