The Minister for Roads and Highways, Kwame Governs Agbodza, says the government has honoured all payment certificates submitted by contractors under the “Big Push” infrastructure programme.
Speaking during an engagement with contractors on the Tema Motorway expansion project on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, the Minister emphasized that no contractor with verified work has been sidelined.
“There is no Big Push contractor who have raised certificate for works who has being postponed,” the Minister stated.
Mr. Agbodza stressed that President John Dramani Mahama’s commitment to pay for issued certificates remains firm, describing the Ministry as an “engineering enterprise” where value and scope guide project decisions are made.
He dismissed criticisms about projects awarded through sole sourcing, noting that the current administration built on earlier contracts with “added values attached on these projects, were quantified base on the scope works.”
He recounted the construction challenges on major projects such as deep excavation works near the big bridge which require additional technical interventions.
