The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has started firing salvos at Prof. Nana Jane Opoku Agyemang, barely hours after being named the running mate to John Mahama.
The former Education Minister was introduced Monday afternoon by the presidential aspirant of the largest opposition party NDC, former President John Mahama.
The communications team of the governing NPP hurriedly put together a press conference to level a litany of allegations against Prof. Opoku Agyemang.
“She should be ready for the fire ahead,” Director of Communications of the NPP, Buabeng Asamoah told journalists on Monday evening.
He said the NPP is ready to tell Ghanaians the “dangers she poses” to the country if the pair of John Mahama and Prof. Opoku Agyemang are elected in the December elections.
Buabeng Asamoah noted that her selection by Mahama is a “clear indication that he does not take the Ghanaian electorate serious”.
Touching on some of the reasons the NPP thinks she is a bad choice, he role in the release of the infamous Montie 3 saga, which a radio presenter and two panlists were imprisoned for contempt of court.
Prof. Nana Jane Opoku Agyemang, who is a former Vice Chancellor of the University of Cape Coast, had signed a petition to get remission for them, which they got.
“The worst thing that can be associated with her name is the Montie saga,” Buabeng Asamoah noted.
“How can a woman who hate her fellow women to this extend…be given such a responsibility now to take care of everybody in the country including her fellow women.”
