A 25-year-old man identified only as Kwame, has drowned in River Anum at Ofoase, a farming community in the Asante Akyem South District of the Ashanti Region.
The deceased, according to residents, drowned after he allegedly disregarded superstition beliefs and went to farm on Tuesday 21, 2020, which was deemed a bad day for the community.
The Youth leader, Charles Marfo, who narrated the unfortunate incident said, it is a taboo to go to farm on Tuesdays in the community.
According to him, “No one is permitted to go to farm on Tuesdays because it is a bad day for the community. Those who disregard the belief always face the consequences.”
The body of the deceased was retrieved on Wednesday evening around 10pm, after traditional leaders performed rituals.
The body of the deceased has been deposited at Juaso Government Hospital for autopsy.
The Juaso Police Command has commenced investigations into the matter.
