Ghanaian athlete, Martha Bissah, has charged leaders and stakeholders in the sports fraternity to eschew hypocrisy and pride, in order to help in the development of individual athletes and the sport as a whole.
Speaking to Saddick Adams on Floodlight Sports on Angel 102.9 FM, after graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in Management from Norfolk State University, an elated Bissah credited her successes to God.
She termed her achievement “a game changer that I can do anything”.
With lots of accolades for track, the 2014 gold medalist in girls’ 800m race at the 2014 Summer Youth Olympics, is still serving an indefinite ban imposed on her by the Ghana Athletics Association in June 2016.
However, the two times Female Athlete of the year at Norfolk State University still awaits a call back to Team Ghana to dominate the track and win Ghana some medals.
According to her,” I am a Ghanaian and I love my country. I would be glad to come back but the leaders must appreciate the athletes and take very good care of the athletes”.
With controversies surrounding her ban still not settled, the 23-year-old has implored the “leaders to do away with attitudes that bring disunity and hinder development of the sports in Ghana”.
Martha Bissah hopes to concentrate more on sports while learning to attain a second degree in Marketing.
