The Weija District Court presided over by Her Worship Ruby Ntiri Opoku has for the second time remanded a mother and her son, into police custody for allegedly attacking and stabbing her 20-year-old daughter.
The accused persons, 42-year-old Doris Okumoh and her 18-year-old son, Daniel Okai, are standing trial for conspiracy to commit murder and attempted murder.
They pleaded not guilty but their plea was not taken.
Briefing the court, Inspector Issah Adam stated that they are done with Investigations and have forwarded the case docket to the Attorney General for advice.
He therefore prayed the court to remand the accused persons into police custody as they wait for the advice of the Attorney General to determine if the case would be continued in the High Court.
Meanwhile, in an interview with ABN’s court correspondent, Ama Brako Ampofo, Madam Doris Okumoh, admitted that she stabbed her daughter but she had no intention to kill her.
Daniel Okai, on the other hand, denied that there is a love affair between him and the mother; he rather accused his sister of being a bad girl.
The case has been adjourned to December 9, 2021.
Background
A Senior High School (SHS) student, Akosua, not her name, escaped death when her biological mother and brother attempted to murder her for witnessing an amorous relationship between the two.
“I woke up to see my brother and my mother attacking me…I got up from bed and attempted to fight and that was when I realised blood was oozing from my tummy and back…I was weak but still had to fight them…,” she narrated on Angel FM’s Anopa Bofo Morning Show on Wednesday.
Akosua narrated further that her mother who was bent on killing her instructed her son (now her lover) to go out and bring banku stick “and come and hit me with it so I will die”.
She however, fought her way out and was rescued by her aunty, who later rushed her to the hospital in a taxi.
