Ghana Premier League side, Accra Hearts of Oak has filed an official protest against referee Kennedy Paddy who officiated the Super Clash tie against league leaders, Kumasi Asante Kotoko on Sunday at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
According to the Phobians, the referee’s conduct was “unprofessional” during the game and this led to their defeat in the crucial encounter.
The Porcupine Warriors won the bragging rights following a 1-0 home win courtesy Franck Mbella’s 17th minute penalty kick. The penalty was awarded after Fabio Gama was fouled in Hearts’ penalty area by Abdul Aziz.
An official statement from the club read:
“The import of our plea is to pray on the Review Committee to take a second at the controversial penalty awarded against the club. Management is disheartened by referee Padi’s poor judgement which subsequently caused us to lose the game.
“Hearts is accordingly requesting the Review Committee to take immediate actions to serve as a deterrent to all other future match officials who exercise such indiscretion against any club, especially at this critical period that we are all striving hard to bring back the love of the game” says Accra Hearts of Oak.
The statement further called on supporters to remained focused and rally behind the team to avoid being distracted by the development.
The Disciplinary Committee of the Ghana Football Association is yet to respond to the complain lunch against Kennedy Padi.
