Former Kumasi Asante Kotoko legend, Sarfo Gyamfi popularly known as ‘Black President’, has said voodoo [juju] helped his former side to win the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League title.
The former player whose belief in ‘juju’ is no news to the Ghanaian football community, admitted that it played a major role in the lead-up to their title-holding status.
The Porcupine Warriors were declared champions on Wednesday, June 1, 2022, when they held Obuasi-based Ashanti Gold SC to a 1-1 draw to become winners with three matches to end the season.
The triumph becomes the reds’ 25th domestic league title in their history.
While speaking to an Accra-based CTV on the team’s victory, Sarfo Gyamfi, said they set up a team of operation where they raised some funds week-in-week-out to help the club on a spiritual basis.
“Black Magic (Juju) won the league for Asante Kotoko, we formed an operational to help the club spiritually; we contributed sometimes GHC50 or GHC100 to help the club on weekly basis and I can say that this played a key role in our league victory,” he stated.
Meanwhile, the Ghana Football Association has set Sunday, June 12, 2022, to crown them champions by presenting the trophy to them when they host Elimina Shark FC on match day 33.
The match which will be the red’s last home game of the season is scheduled to kick off at 6:00 pm local time at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi.
