The Chief Executive Officer of Akim Oda-based Kotoku Royals, Linford Boadu Asamoah, has lauded the Member of Parliament (MP) of the Constituency for his supportive role played to ensure the club gains promotion into next season’s Ghana Premier League football.
The support, among other things, significantly includes the massive mobilization of supporters in the team’s last matches in zone three of the National Division One League against Tema Youth Football Club.
Mr Alexander Akwasi Aquah on Sunday, June 12, 2022, provided 20 buses that transported supporters to the Tema Sports Stadium on a free basis to support the team to ensure the agenda ‘Eastern4Premier’ was achieved.
According to Mr Asamoah who is also the Chairman of the Regional Football Association of the Eastern Region, the MP’s contribution to the success of the Akim-Oda-based club was “extraordinary.”
He also emphasised that the lawmakers’ involvement leading to Kotoku Royals’ qualification to taste Premier football for the first time will go a long way into the club’s history book.
“If we get ten MPs in your [Alexander Akwasi Aquah] caliber, Ghana football will go far and develop” Linford Asamoah expressed.
The CEO made the statement when the Ghana Premier League newcomers paid a courtesy call on the MP following their promotion.
Mr Linford Asamoah also called for support and focus on unifying ahead of the 2022/23 topflight season, the surest way to retain the team because “the beauty of football unites all and sundry since it has no political and tribal difference.”
The Lawmaker expressing the honor bestowed on him with the courtesy call revealed he was particularly excited the constituency is being brought back to life through football.
He attributed the team’s historic feat to the support from constituents, which he labelled as the magic that got the job done.
Alexander Akwasi Aquah used the opportunity to pledge his assistance for the Akim Kotoku pride to make sure they bring glory to the region.
