Former President, John Agyekum Kufuor, has hailed Ghana’s Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as a true son who is loyal to him.
He described the country’s head of the Economic Management Team as a loyal son, saying the coincidence of his fatherhood to Mr. Bawumia’s birth year was a beautiful course that strengthened their love ever since he got to know.
The former head of state made the statement on Sunday, June 19, 2022, when Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and his wife Samira Buwumia joined the year’s ‘Fathers’ Day’ celebration held at the Peduase Valley Resort in the Eastern Region.
John Agyekum Kufuor who explained how the vice president made himself available for the event amidst his busy schedules in the Northern Region, mentioned that it was a sign of Mr. Bawumia’s humility towards him.
“Let me single out one person, I can claim that he happens to be my son too and that is the Vice President sitting right by me. In your narration, you said when the planners decided to invite the Vice President, you learned he had gone to the North for some duties and you even doubted whether he will manage to come.”
“But you phoned him and with his signature giggling he said if it’s J.A. Kufour I’m coming. That’s so touching, very touching but probably that’s how a son should behave towards a father” he expressed.
He further explained that the ‘father and son affair’ between the two became prominent ever since his fatherhood started in 1963, some 59 years ago when the Vice President was born.
“It is a coincidence that you may not know, I started being a father in 1963 and that happens to be the exact year the Vice President was born and then we’ve related so beautifully.”
“It is not just for this occasion but from way back, once I noticed him, he became like a son and he behaves like a true son. So I pray for him and may God bless him” John Agyekum Kufuor emphasised.
Former President Kufuor first was born on September 7, 1963, and a month later, on October 7, that same year, Dr. Bawumia was also born.
