The Ranking Member on Parliament’s Roads and Transport Committee, Governs Kwame Agbodza, has said the attack by residents on the Member of Parliament for Suame, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu was staged.
Some angry residents within the Suame-Magazine business enclave pelted their MP with sachets of water and other items while hooting at him.
Their frustration stemmed from delays in the reconstruction of the main highway from Suame Roundabout through Maakro to Afrancho.
It took the intervention of the police service to whisk the legislator to safety away from danger.
However, Mr. Agbodza believes that the whole incident was nothing but hoax aimed at benefiting the ruling government.
Meanwhile, government through its Deputy Minister for Finance, Abena Osei-Asare, laid a commercial agreement in Parliament for the construction of the Suame Interchange and ancillary works.
This was done on Tuesday, July 19, barely 24 hours after the attack on the Suame MP by residents over the delays in the road construction.
The agreement has so far been referred to the Finance Committee of Parliament for consideration and reports back to the House.
