The outgoing Director-General of the Ghana Police Services (GPS), Public Affairs Directorate, DCOP Samuel Kwasi Ofori, is urging the general public to comport themselves and be law-abiding to avoid a brush with the law.
He admonished Ghanaian citizens to continue exhibiting a good attitude as far as the laws of the country are concerned.
The retired DCOP gave the advice on Wednesday, July 20, 2022, during a retirement service and farewell ceremony in his honor at the National Police Training School, Accra.
The meeting was graced by Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr. George Akuffo Dampare as well well members of the Police Management Board and other dignitaries.
Addressing the function in his farewell speech the former Deputy Commissioner of Police said “I would like to appeal to all Ghanaians to embrace rule of law, rule of law is when one who commits a crime does not go scot-free.”
He also asked all and sundry to work hand in hand with the Police Administration in its quest to combating crimes in the country.
Mr. Ofori’s retirement from the service follows his attainment of 60 years. He served for 34 years in the GPS and rose through the ranks to become a DCOP.
The retirement thus takes effect today, Wednesday, 20 July 2022.
Before his retirement, he served in other capacities including the District Police Commander of Tafo in the Ashanti Region, Adabraka Divisional Police Command, Accra, and the VVIP Unit of the Jubilee House and also the Head of Operations at the Accra Regional Police Command.
