Ghanaian duo Evelyn Badu and Doris Boaduwaa have made the final nominees for the 2022 CAF awards for the Women’s category.
The one-time attacking pair for Ghanaian women’s champions, Hasaacas Ladies were shortlisted following their magnificent display in the year under review.
With less than 48 hours to the awards night, Evelyn and Doris appeared on the final shortlist released by the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
The award will be held in Morocco, Rabat on Thursday, July 21, 2022, at 20h00 local time (19h00 GMT) after a two-year absence due to the coronavirus pandemic.
In the interclub best women player category, the former Hasaacas Ladies attacker now player of Norwegian outfit Alvadness FC, Evelyn Badu, completed the final three whiles Hasaacas Ladies’ Doris Boaduwaa also made the final three for the Women’s Young Player of the Year award.
Evelyn Badu’s exceptional display at the maiden edition of the Women’s CAF champions league earns her the Golden Ball Award (Best Player) and the Golden Boot (Top Scorer-5 goals) of the competition.
Also, Hasaacas Ladies will be competing for the Women’s Club of the year award with AS FAR of Morocco and reigning Women’s CAF champions league winners, Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa.
It follows the outstanding performance of coach Yusif Basigi’s side exhibited during the 2020/2021 season after winning both the Ghana Women’s Premier League and the FA Cup.
They also won the WAFU B tournament which served as a qualifier for the maiden edition of the CAF Women’s Champions League in Egypt where they managed to reach the final of the tournament but were defeated by South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns.
