Ghanaian Sprinter, Joseph Paul Amoah, has won a bronze medal in the men’s 200 meters final at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.

The 25-year-old finished the race with a time of 20.49s to secure 3rd position.

It becomes Ghana’s first medal in the track and field events after Benjamin Azamati missed out on a medal in the 100m final.

Amoah also becomes the first African to win a medal in the 200m event since 2006 and the first Ghanaian to win a medal in 200m since George Daniels in 1974.

However, fellow countryman boxer, Joseph Commey settled for silver after succumbing to a strange illness.

He was supposed to fight Jude Gallagher for a gold medal after qualifying for the finals of the men’s featherweight 54 – 57kg.

But due to his ill health, he was forced to forfeit the bout on the eve of the fight.
