Police in the Eastern Region has commenced probing into circumstances leading to the death of two teenage girls at Okrakwadwo near Adukrom in the Okere District.
The deceased, identified as Yvonne Ansah and Esther Oye both 16 years, were found lying static at the junction linking Okrakwadwo and Adukrom communities off the Koforidua Highway Tuesday dawn, August 30, 2022.
The two, Junior High School students, met their untimely death after they were said to have left home Monday evening to allegedly visit their boyfriends at Mintakrom best known as Mile 14, a nearby community in the Okere District.
The Adukrom District Police Command visited the scene where they swiftly transported the girls to the Tetteh Quarshie Memorial Hospital at Akuapem Mampong and the Eastern Regional Hospital.
Yvonne Ansah who was sent to the Eastern Regional Hospital, at Koforidua was pronounced dead shortly after admission whiles her friend Esther Oye was also pronounced dead on arrival at Tetteh Quarshie Memorial Hospital at Akuapem Mampong.
The bodies of the deceased friends have been deposited at the morgue of the respective hospitals for preservation and autopsy.
Assembly Member for the area Michael Gadasu said although the bodies sustain no injuries, he suspects foul play because they were lying beside one another.
Meanwhile, the Adukrom Police Commander, DSP Ernest Addo confirmed the matter to Prince Adjei Asare of Dawu Awukugwa-based Anigye FM and said investigations are still ongoing to unravel the cause of the incident.
