NDC office at Suame vandalised ahead of constituency election

The constituency party office of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Suame in the Ashanti Region have been vandalised by some irate members over alleged ghost names in the constituency album.

Items destroyed are stationery, chairs, tables and other equipment.

According to the agitated members their names have been replaced with unknown persons in the album that would be used for their constituency elections scheduled for Saturday, October 20, 2022.

They also alleged that the register of at least 21 branches of the party in the constituency has been compromised.

Expressing their displeasure against party executives in the region for refusing to act swiftly on the matter, the irate members proceed to the office and destroys properties Thursday, October 20.

A branch executive of the NDC in Suame Constituency Suraj Mohammed, explained that “We realized that some of the names have been expunged. We called our regional chairman last Sunday and he met the Regional Elections Committee. The briefing suggested that the committee was relying on a new list, and we believe the register had been compromised.

“When we pointed this out to the committee, they told us they were waiting for an “order from above,” he narrated.

Another member of the irate youth sent a cautioned to leadership of the party to as a matter of urgency address the matter if they want peace to prevail within the party.

“We are expected to vote on Saturday (22 October). And so, if you tell me, you are awaiting a call from above then it means I will be disenfranchised. If the party wants peace, they should take steps to resolve this issue or else they will face our wrath,” he warned.
