The Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwame Baffoe, also known as Abronye DC, has threatened to take legal action against some unidentified persons who issued a release purported to have come from him which attacks the judiciary.

The release which was signed by someone impersonating Abronye DC took a swipe at the judicial service. It came after the Supreme Court dismissed lawsuits filed by him against some parliamentarians who allegedly took double salaries in the John Mahama adminstration.

The MPs – Minority Leader, Haruna Iddrisu; Alhassan Azong, Fifi Fiave Kwetey, Eric Opoku and Abdul Rashid Hassan Pelpuo – are said to have drawn salaries both as Ministers and MPs.

Others are Emmanuel Armah Kofi Buah, Edwin Nii Lantey Vanderpuye, Mark Owen Woyongo, Comfort Doyoe, Cudjoe Ghansah and Aquinas Tawiah Quansah.

The apex court of the land had argued in its ruling that the the writ was frivolous and does not raise any issue for interpretation.

The fake press release which bore the name of the vociferous politician fast circulated on social media after the ruling.

“Indeed, when injustice abounds, particularly in situations where the bench, which is considered the final arbiter of disputes, is deemed biased, citizens tend to take the law into their own hands most times without recourse to the established systems of justice delivery,” portions of the fake release read.

Abronye DC in a disclaimer copied to Angelonline.com.gh described the release as ‘fake’.

“My attention has been drawn to a press release in circulation on various social and traditional media platforms suggesting that, I (Kwame Baffoe Abronye) has described our distinguished and respected judges of the Supreme Court of being bias in respect of the Honourable Court’s decision in the matter of the double salary scandal.

“I wish to state unequivocally and categorically that, the Press release which has been widely circulated is not emanating from me.

“I have not issued any press release so far as the ruling of the Supreme Court is concerned and therefore, I wish to call on all well-meaning Ghanaians to disregard that press release in its entirety and treat is with the contempt it deserves.”

He further noted that he will be petitioning the “Cyber Crime Unit of the Ghana Police Service” to institute immediate investigations and bring these unscrupulous impersonators to book.
