Black Stars’ coach Otto Addo has said that the team is concentrating ahead of the group game against Uruguay in the FIFA World Cup 2022.
The manager’s comment sought to indicate the psychology of the team going into the game against the South American team, precisely whether Ghana would be taking revenge on the latter.
It follows one of Ghana’s most painful moments in the history of football when in South Africa in 2010, Uruguay’s Luiz Suarez committed a dastardly offence with his hand, parrying a ball that was entering his sides post.
That led to his sending off but unfortunately for the Black Stars, Asamoah Gyan failed to score from the penalty Ghana was awarded.
Uruguay then proceeded to the semi-final stage of the FIFA World Cup, having won on penalty shootouts.
It is therefore not clear what the team’s plans are going into the game against the team that arguably robbed them of their place in the semis.
But according to Otto Addo, the Black Stars are not interested in revenge but rather victory against Uruguay in their final group match on Friday, 2nd December.
He said though Ghana has an unforgiving past against Uruguay, they will go into the match with progression to the next stage being the main focus.
He said: ” I’m not a guy that thinks much of revenge. It was a really, really long time ago that this incident happened and I am a strong believer if you don’t seek too much revenge on these kinds of things, sometimes you get the blessings.
“It is a different approach, a different team. They have very good strikers, lots of experience and they are a very compact, very good team. It will be very difficult just like every match.
