Former WBO world champion Isaac Dogboe has indicated that his April 1st opponent, Robeisy Eloy Ramírez Carrazana is yet to face a boxer of his caliber despite fighting 12 opponents in his professional career.
Dogboe will battle the Cuban boxer for the WBO featherweight title on Saturday, April 1, 2023, which was rendered vacant following Emmanuel Navarette’s move to the super featherweight division.
Though the venue for the bout is yet to be revealed, reports say Madison Square Garden in the USA is likely to host the titanic encounter.
Dogboe was on fazed discussing the two times Olympic Gold medalists in an interview with Nathaniel Attoh monitored by Angelonline.com.gh.
He noted that he “was at the Olympics too. I did not win a medal but became a world champion.”
“I am always ready to fight anybody provided there is a title at stake. I am ready to get the job done. Ramirez is good but he hasn’t fought anyone like me,” Isaac Dogboe indicated.
Adding to that, the Ghanaian boxer believes after the country’s disappointing sporting failures in recent years, it has become his responsibility to bring success to his motherland.
“Back in 2018 when I was about to fight for the world title, Ghana’s international image had seen a bit of a dip and I felt that my win lifted the spirits of the people.
“We find ourselves in a similar situation and I have the responsibility to lift Ghana’s image in sports I am very committed to do this for my nation and the people.”
Joet Gonzalez is the last boxer Isaac Dogboe fought and was defeated by a split decision. Two of the judges scored the fight 96–94 for Dogboe, while the third judge awarded an identical scorecard to Gonzalez.
Dogboe has the opportunity to become a world champion again after losing it to Navarrete in 2018, and he has to do it by defeating Ramirez who has lost just once in twelve fights.
