The Member of Parliament (MP) for Asante Akyem Central Constituency in the Ashanti Region, Kwame Anyimadu Antwi has refuted allegations that he is the brain behind the arrest of the Chief Executive Officer of the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP), Kofi Ofosu Nkansah, by the Special Prosecutor.
Mr Ofosu Nkansah who is also contesting against the incumbent, Anyimadu Antwi, for the Asante Akim Central parliamentary seat, was arrested by the Special Prosecutor on Wednesday, January 10, 2024 for allegedly distributing money to delegates ahead of the NPP Parliamentary primaries.
The NPP’s Asante Akyem Central constituency organiser, Jones Osei Asamoah, told host of Angel Morning Show, Okatakyie Afrifa Mensah that the MP had threatened to report Kofi Owusu Nkansah to the Special Prosecutor for out paying him during the festive season.
He claimed the Law Maker becamse jealous of the NEIP Boss who has been a front runner in the constituency primaries because he gave delegates GHC 500 each while the MP could only afford to share GHC 300.
But the head of the Constitutional, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs Committee who also spoke on the Angel Morning Show (AMS), denied any knowledge of the arrest.
“I have no hand in the arrest of Kofi Owusu Nkansah by the Special Prosecutor, I know nothing about it, I have not reported anyone…,” he said.
The Law Maker was of the optimistic that “the delegates would appreciate my good works and endorse me as the next MP.”
