The Eastern Regional first Vice-Chairman of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Richard Twum Barima Koranteng, has called on Ghanaians especially Yilo Krobo constituents to do away with partisan politics in their quest for development.
He challenged residents to cease seeing everything with the NDC/NPP lense if they really want to develop.
According to him, the short-term benefits of the practice among the general public are not worth the long-term effects.
Dr Koranteng who is also the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for the Yilo Krobo Project observed that the persistent politicisation of issues in our day-to-day activities only tends to create sharp divisions leading to underdevelopment.
He however urged the youth to first seek developmental projects rather than give in to the whims and caprices of the political class.
“I want to plead with you people to ensure that you do not allow partisan politics in the name of NPP, NDC, CPP, and others to bring division among us rather let us look for leaders who can lead a cause to build cohesion and consensus for national development,” Dr. Twum Barima stressed in Krobo.
He offered the advice on January 1, 2024, when delivering a speech as a special guest at Opersika, a suburb of Yilo Krobo during its 2023 annual peace football gala where he collaborated.
2023 Opersika Peace Gala
Twenty One Community-based teams participated in the just-ended tournament with Akpo and Osoyaa Young Stars playing in the finals following outstanding displays.
Osoyaa Young Stars after beating Akpo 2-1 were crowned champions of the 9th edition of the tournament.
Dr. Twums’ pledge for the Peace Gala
Dr Twum Barima pledged support to organisers of the Opersika Peace Gala telling them he is ready to sponsor the 2024 edition.
He further promised to bring Ghana Premier League giants Accra Hearts of Oak as a guest team to grace the competition.
The affable CEO of Yilo Krobo Project whose philanthropical works is unquestionable said he would work tirelessly to lobby for an Astro Turf for the area.
On his part, Robert Paddy, co-financier and organiser of the most talked about annual Opersika peace football gala held during Christmas festivities was thankful to Dr Twum Barima for his collaboration and support of the 9th edition of the competition and asked for more.
