Information Minister, Fatimatu Abubakar has questioned former President John Mahama’s promise to continue and complete the Agenda 111 projects commenced by current President, Nana Akufo-Addo.

President Mahama who is also the National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer for the 2024 elections promised among other things to continue and complete all the Agenda 111 hospitals which this government has begun.

“We know the problems with trainee nurses and that is why when we were in government, we said we were going to substitute your allowance with the students’ loan and that is because we wanted to create more employment for you. What is important for you is not the allowance it is to get a job when you finish school.

“But somebody came and said he will pay the allowances. Unfortunately, it was 419…Come and pay the nurses you owe them almost 30 months of arrears. Some of them have left school without receiving their allowances and some of them are going to leave school again without receiving their allowances but one thing I can assure you is that it is about jobs and NDC is committed to jobs so we are going to create the situation where we can employ as many of you as possible.”

“…I make you a commitment when I come the hospitals we were building that have been abandoned by this government we will continue them. When I come, the agenda 111 hospitals, they are building I will continue and finish them so that we can create more space to be able to absorb all of you when you finish school. This election is between Ghana and NPP,” the former President told a gathering of nurses.

Commenting on the matter in a one-on-one interview on Angel Morning Show on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, the minister said she wondered how Mr. Mahama, who had described the project as overly ambitious and unrealistic would now make a U-turn and promise to complete them.

“I keep saying that the exact place where the goat is being tied is the same place to be untied. So why the spark in the conversation of the Agenda 111 again? Former President John Mahama is asking Ghanaians to give him another nod to become President come December 7 to complete the Agenda 111 projects.

“Is he not the same person who said the projects are not realistic and, for that matter, the NPP government cannot execute such projects? What has he seen, and to what extent?” she quizzed.

She added, “Has he now become an ambassador for Agenda 111?,” the minister told Okatakyie Afrifa-Mensah.

“Let me ask Mahama, is he the one to have sexual intercourse with the pregnant woman impregnated by another man?” the minister asked.
