A senior aide to Alan Kyeremanten and a leading figure in the Movement for Change, Hopeson Adorye, has described the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) constitution as “useless.”
According to the former NPP stalwart, the ruling party has “the most useless constitution in the country’s political space.”
Speaking to Okatakyie Afrifa-Mensah on the Angel Morning Show (AMS), he expressed that, however, the NPP’s worthless constitution was used to sack him from the party after he declared his support for Mr. Kyerematen’s candidacy.
According to him, there is favoritism in the NPP as a political party, which does not help the party.
He could not fathom why the same constitution guarantees others to contest as independent candidates, but it prohibits one from declaring his support for an independent presidential candidate.
To him, the NPP constitution is very “pointless” and added that the “same NPP constitution protects someone contesting as an independent but does not allow someone to declare his support to an independent candidate, and I think the NPP constitution is the most useless constitution in the world today.”
Hopeson noted that Article 3(9) of the NPP’s constitution protects someone contesting as an independent but does not allow any other person to assert his support for an independent candidate, which manifests that some people in the party endeavor their powers.
