The Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has called on supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to end the ‘blame game’ going on in the party following the party’s defeat in the elections.

Addressing party supporters at his official residence in Accra, the Vice President said the blame game has the possibility of jeopardizing the unity in the elephant family.

The NPP suffered a humiliating defeat in the 2024 elections after attaining 41% of valid votes cast.

The defeat, has caused party supporters to start pointing accusing fingers at each other.

This, the Vice President who is also the leader of the NPP said will not help the cause of the party in future.

He was of the belief that God permitted what happened.

“We are in pain but I have abiding belief in God that sometimes he hides us, so we can glitter when he brings us out. There’s the tendency for us to start blaming people once in pain but the blame game will destroy the unity in the party, so let’s come together…,” he said.

He thanked the members for their support and asked them to stay put for the task ahead.

The NPP Parliamentary Candidate for Klottey Korle constituency, Valentino Nii Noi Nortey, on behalf of the constituents also urged them not to be broken even though, “we didn’t get what we wanted.”

“I still believe everything is possible,” he added.

“We believe in your policies and we will continue to support you. We are there for you,” Nii Nortey assured.
