The former National Organiser of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Yaw Boateng Gyan, has condemned the actions of party youth involved in attacks on government offices.

He vowed to ensure their arrest to maintain law and order.

He emphasised the importance of discipline within the party and called for swift action against such misconduct.

During an interview on the Angel Morning Show with Sadick Adams on Thursday, January 9.2025,, Mr Yaw Boateng Gyan stated that he had heard reports of some NDC members storming government offices and taking them over, an act he deems inappropriate.

According to him, he heard that the youth had taken over government offices in Koforidua.

He stated that while the NPP government may have done the same when they came to power, that does not justify the NDC youth doing the same. Therefore, he called on them to stop.

“I’ve heard that some of our youth are storming offices, including government offices in Koforidua. I beg them, what others did in the past does not mean it should be repeated. We need to stop these actions.”

Mr. Yaw Boateng Gyan further added that if the government has not authorized anyone, no one has the right to take over any government office.

He warned that when it’s time for government workers to provide accountability, they might blame the NDC youth for the chaos caused during the storming of the offices, making it difficult to account for resources.

“Mahama was recently sworn in, but that doesn’t mean we should go around closing offices and firing people.

“If you force someone out of the office and they have stolen government money, they will blame it on those who stormed the offices, saying they are the ones who took all the money, which will not help with accountability.”

Referring to the recent directive from President John Dramani Mahama for MMDCEs to step aside as their tenure had ended,

Yaw Boateng further told Sadick Adams that no youth should take over those offices, as there are coordinating directors who will step in until new appointments are made.

“I beg you, if you were not sent to any office, do not go there until the government appoints someone. Just recently, the President asked MMDCEs to step aside, meaning the coordinating directors will take over.”

He pleaded with the NDC youth to cease their rampage, assuring them that if he witnessed such actions, he would order their arrest, as it is unlawful to behave in that way.

“I beg our youth to stop these actions. As for me, if I see anyone doing that, I will ensure the police arrest them because it is unlawful.

“Let’s stop this and allow the law to take its course so that Ghanaians will know they voted for a party that understands and respects the law.”
