The Minority Caucus in Parliament on Thursday, July 24, boycotted the presentation of the 2025 Mid-Year Budget Review.
Moments before the Finance Minister, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, commenced the presentation, the minority cited the violence that marred the Ablekuma North rerun as their reason.
According to them, intimidation, acts of violence, and the deliberate misuse of state security forces actions constitute a dangerous affront to the country’s democratic foundations.
To that effect, Minority Chief Whip, Frank Annoh-Dompreh, declared that the group could not, in good conscience, lend legitimacy to the budget proceedings while remaining silent on what they described as a grave assault on democratic processes.
