The helicopter with registration number 9G-AFW, which made an emergency landing at Nkawkaw Ampekrom, in the Kwahu West Municipality of the Eastern Region, on Monday morning, had five occupants.
The chopper, according to reports, belongs to Volta River Aviation and made a forced landing on August 11, 2025.
According to available information, the aircraft was en route from Accra to Kumasi when the pilot was forced to land due to poor visibility caused by harsh weather conditions in the area.
Our reporter, Oheneba Siaw, confirmed that the aircraft had five occupants, two Ghanaians, including the pilot, and three foreign nationals.
Mr. Siaw reported that the helicopter landed at about 9:45 a.m. and took off at exactly 11:20 a.m. to continue its journey to Kumasi.
Attempts to get comments from any of the occupants were unsuccessful, the reporter narrated.
The incident has drawn significant public attention, especially as it comes just days after the Obuasi copper mine helicopter crash that claimed eight lives, marking the second emergency landing involving an aircraft in the country within a short period.
