The Ministry of Education, in collaboration with the Conference of Heads and Proprietors of Private Secondary Schools (CHOPSS), has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for the inclusion of Private Senior High Schools in the Free Senior High School programme.
This initiative marks a significant milestone in the integration of Private Senior High Schools into the Free SHS programme across the country.
Dr. Aisha Asi Akrofi, the Greater Accra Chairperson of the Ghana National Association Council of Private Schools (GNACOPS), expressed profound gratitude to the President, the Minister of Education, the Director-General of Education, and the Free SHS Coordinator for their unwavering commitment to making this promise a reality.
According to her, this development signals a new era of partnership between the government and Private Senior High Schools, emphasising that it will help translate into improved access to quality education for Ghanaians.
“We assure the Ministry of quality education delivery from our schools,” Dr. Akrofi said. “We’re grateful and confident that more of our schools meeting the criteria will be incorporated into the programme in the 2026/2027 academic year.”
