Director of Economic Statistics at the Ghana Statistical Service (GSS), Francis Bright Mensah, has revealed that if Ghana’s inflation rate falls to 6% or below, it would mark a major economic milestone — the lowest level in 25 years.
Speaking on the Angel Morning Show (AMS), the Chief Statistician explained that, achieving such a reduction would represent a significant return to economic stability and enhance consumer confidence.
“If the government brings inflation down to 6% or below, it could be breaking a 25-year record.
“This would not only signify a return to stability but also boost consumer confidence in the economy,” he said.
He added that should supply chains, effective monetary policies, and controlled consumer demand continue, inflation rates are likely to decrease further in the upcoming months, noting that sustaining these favorable conditions is key to achieving lower inflation.
Mr. Mensah further lauded the government for laying down proper structures to curb the rapid rising of inflation from 53% to 8% few months ago.
