The Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana has been praised for its professionalism and transparency in conducting various elections in 2025.
Addressing Parliament on the 2026 national budget on Thursday, November 13, 2025, the Finance Minister, Cassiel Ato Forson highlighted the Commission’s achievements during the year.
“In 2025, the Electoral Commission delivered on its constitutional mandate with professionalism and transparency,” he said, as quoted in the budget statement.
He explained that the Commission successfully conducted elections for the confirmation of 261 Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) following the 2024 Presidential and Parliamentary Elections.
He also noted that it organized the re-run of the Ablekuma North Parliamentary Election, conducted the Akwatia By-Election, and supervised the Council of State elections for 16 regional representatives.
Mr. Forson further mentioned the Commission’s accomplishment in managing district-level elections in Nkoranza North, Nkoranza South, and 30 other electoral areas without major incidents.
“Furthermore, the Commission managed district-level elections in Nkoranza North, Nkoranza South, and 30 other electoral areas without major incidents, further consolidating Ghana’s democratic credentials,” he stated.
Looking ahead, the Minister revealed plans for electoral improvements.
“In 2026, the Commission will prioritise the maintenance and upgrade of its Data Centre to enhance operational reliability, voter data security, and administrative efficiency in preparation for future electoral events,” Forson said.
His remarks underscore the Electoral Commission’s commitment to strengthening Ghana’s democratic processes.
