The Swiss Ambassador to Ghana, H.E. Simone Giger, has reaffirmed Switzerland’s commitment to supporting Ghana’s democratic progress.
Her pledge follows recent policy changes that facilitate closer cooperation with national institutions.
During a courtesy call on the Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, the Ambassador outlined a new programme with International IDEA that will provide technical support to the Attorney General’s office.
According to her, the initiative will engage Parliament and Members of Parliament (MPs) on reform proposals, while collaborating with civil society and key state bodies to assist the Constitutional Review Committee’s process.
Speaker Bagbin welcomed the renewed partnership, praising Switzerland’s strong democratic culture and decentralised governance model.
He described the Swiss system as an example Ghana can learn from as it advances its own constitutional reform agenda.
