The Dunkwa Area Teachers’ Cooperative Credit Union (DATCCU) has marked its 50th anniversary with strong commendations from its Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Emmanuel Kofi Obeng, who praised the union’s steady rise to becoming the best credit union in the Central Region and the second-best nationwide.
The anniversary celebration, held at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Dunkwa, brought together many dignitaries, stakeholders, and members of the union, creating a colourful atmosphere to mark the milestone.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Obeng noted that one of the major challenges facing many Ghanaians, especially those in government service, is the habit of working without full dedication.
He explained that, unlike such practices, DATCCU has maintained strict operational measures and a culture of discipline, enabling the union to deliver quality service consistently.

According to him, these values have earned the union numerous awards over the years, cementing its place as one of Ghana’s leading cooperative credit unions.
Mr. Obeng encouraged all members to embrace the responsibility and collective effort of the union, noting that working hand in hand will help DATCCU continue serving its community with integrity and trust.
He further highlighted the habit of members taking loans and refusing to repay, and appealed to them to abstain from such practices, stressing that such behaviour threatens the growth and stability of the union.

For his part, the Board Chairman of DATCCU, who also served as Deputy Director of the Ghana Education Service (GES), Issakaba Dauda, highlighted the union’s long-standing impact.

He stated that for a decade spanning five and still counting, DATCCU has transformed countless lives, helping members to acquire cars, build houses, and pursue higher education through its support systems.

Mr. Dauda urged community members of Dunkwa, its surroundings, and the Central Region at large to continue supporting the union and enable it to achieve even greater successes in the years ahead.
