Ghana has commemorated its 41st National Farmers’ Day with a grand national celebration held in Ho in the Volta Region, today Friday, December 5, 2025.
The 2025 edition, observed under the theme “Feed Ghana, Eat Ghana, Secure the Future,” highlighted the country’s achievements in food production, agricultural innovation, and long-term food security.

In his address, Minister for Food and Agriculture, Eric Opoku, praised the progress made through the Feed Ghana Programme, which continues to transform the sector by boosting livestock production, expanding irrigation systems, and improving rural livelihoods, particularly for farmers, women, and the youth.
He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to building confidence in the agricultural economy and supporting farmers across all regions.

The Minister extended appreciation to the Agriculture Development Bank (ADB), partnering agro-industry institutions, and coordinating agencies for their vital role and sponsorship in honouring outstanding farmers.
He also acknowledged the contributions of leading research institutions, including the University of Cape Coast (UCC), University of Ghana (UG), and the University of Energy and Natural Resources, for advancing innovations in crop science and digital agriculture and bringing critical research into the public domain.

Mr. Opoku noted that Ghana is richly endowed with agricultural potential and called for a renewed national commitment to strengthen the sector.
He appealed to corporate Ghana for increased partnerships and sponsorships to enhance agricultural value chains and accelerate sector-wide growth.

Commending farmers for their adoption of mechanisation and modern technologies, he highlighted their crucial role in supporting a resilient and sustainable economy.
The Minister assured farmers and fishers of continuous government support and investment to expand their activities.
“Let us all work together to feed Ghana,” the Agric minister Opoku urged.
