The bursar of Ghanata Senior High School (Ghanata), Dodowa, Lamisi Sarah, has been arrested for allegedly diverting food supplies meant for students.
According to sources, the arrest was carried out at the directive of the Member of Parliament (MP) for the Shai-Osudoku Constituency, Linda Obenewa Akweley Ocloo.
The MP explained that her action followed what she described as “a disturbing development that recently came to my attention” after credible reports reached her office.
She added that she subsequently conducted investigations into the matter, which necessitated the arrest.
In a statement on her official Facebook page, Madam Ocloo revealed that she had received credible reports indicating that the bursar had allegedly been diverting portions of food supplies intended for students.
“These provisions,” she noted, “are meant to support the welfare and proper nourishment of our wards. Any interference with such resources is a serious breach of trust and public duty.”
The MP further explained that upon receiving complaints, she “immediately alerted the constituency National Security apparatus to help me conduct a discreet investigation.”
“Yesterday, while I was present in the constituency, I confirmed the activity, and the suspect was apprehended in the act. I directed the officers to hand her over to the Police so that due process can take its full course under the law,” she posted on Saturday, February 21, 2026.
Madam Ocloo described the incident as “deeply troubling,” stressing that “acts of this nature undermine public confidence in our institutions and directly affect the well-being of students placed under our care.”
“It is particularly unfortunate when individuals entrusted with responsibility engage in conduct that sabotages government efforts, only for the system itself to be blamed for failures caused by such misconduct,” she added.
She assured the public of transparency and accountability in handling the matter, while emphasizing her commitment to safeguarding the welfare of students and protecting the integrity of public institutions.
“Even in my pain, I will continue to serve my country diligently so if I am no more, I will be remembered for what I represent.
“I remain committed to ensuring that this matter is pursued thoroughly and transparently. Accountability will be upheld and any person found culpable will face the full rigours of the law.
“The welfare of our students and the integrity of our public institutions must never be compromised,” the MP who also serves as Greater Accra Regional Minister stated.
