Ghanaian comedian and actor Ebenezar Akwasi Antwi, now known as Dr Likee, has revealed that encouragement from President John Dramani Mahama reignited his passion for entertaining fans, convincing him to continue producing films and skits after considering quitting.
Speaking in an interview with Giovani Caleb, Dr. Likee disclosed that years of producing digital skits and films had left him contemplating a complete withdrawal from acting and comedy.
However, an encounter with President Mahama changed his outlook. The comedian explained that the president approached him warmly and revealed that he regularly watches and enjoys his comic performances.
Recalling the encounter, Dr. Likee said: “He greeted me warmly and told me he watches my content and truly enjoys it. I cried, I decided that even if I’m sick, I will still shoot content for people to watch.”
Dr. Likee further noted the significance of a sitting president taking time to watch his videos, saying:
“Because it’s not easy for a whole president to watch my videos, he being busy and still watches my videos tells how he cares for the youth.”
