The Police have arrested two suspects in connection with a robbery that occurred at a jewellery shop near the Nyaho Clinic at Dzorwulu in Accra on September 11, 2025.
The two armed men allegedly riding on a motorbike, attacked a shop attendant smashed the glass doors, and made away with assorted pieces of jewellery from the shop, a statement issued by the police indicated.
Following intensive intelligence-led operations, officers from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Headquarters arrested two suspects identified as Abubakar Mamoud and Mahmoud Abdul Aziz, also known as Justin Martin.
The Police indicated that a search conducted in their respective residences led to the recovery of items believed to have been used during the robbery.
“A search conducted in their rooms led to the retrieval of items believed to have been used in the robbery, including a hammer, a black face mask, toy pistol, gold detector, gold weighing scale, diamond detector, backpack, hand gloves, helmet, and two motorbikes,” part of the statement disclosed.
During police interrogation, the suspects reportedly admitted to the offence and mentioned that a suspect, Eddy believed to reside at Oyarifa, as the receiver of the stolen items.
The Police said that efforts are currently underway to apprehend Eddy. Meanwhile, both suspects are in custody, expecting to be arraigned before court on Thursday, March 26, 2026.
