Calm has reportedly been restored in Nkwanta South Municipality after the Inspector-General of Police dispatched reinforcement to the area following renewed violent clashes.
According to a statement issued by the Police, two armoured vehicles with personnel from the National Police Operations were deployed on Wednesday night to beef up security.
The statement confirmed that five bodies, three males and two females, were recovered from two separate locations by a joint team comprising the Police, Military, Bureau of National Investigations (BNI), Defence Intelligence, and the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS).
Police added that it has commenced investigations to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident and to identify and bring the perpetrators to justice.

Authorities have urged residents of Nkwanta and its environs to remain calm and cooperate with security agencies by providing relevant information that may assist with the ongoing investigations.
Also, the public has been cautioned against spreading misinformation or engaging in acts that could escalate tensions.
