Media personality, Tima Kumkum, has revealed how she lost 45 kilogrammes after a doctor warned her about the health risks associated with her weight following childbirth.
Speaking on Adom TV’s ‘Badwam’ on Thursday, November 5, monitored by Angelonline, she said she weighed 120kg after giving birth and began experiencing dizziness, fatigue and other physical changes that prompted her to seek medical attention.
“Everyone saw I gave birth two years ago. And After I gave birth, I gained so much weight. It was too much. So whenever I woke up in the morning, I felt dizzy. I saw changes in my body. I walk a short distance, then I become tired,” she said.
According to her, medical examinations revealed that her cholesterol levels had increased, while her weight was also affecting her health.
She said the doctor advised her to reduce her weight to 75kg and pay particular attention to her eating habits.
Tima Kumkum admitted that the recommendation was devastating, as she struggled to imagine how she could shed 45kg.
She further disclosed that her weight gain attracted public criticism, particularly on social media, where she was subjected to body shaming following her child’s naming ceremony photos., at the time, an ambassador for a slimming tea brand.
“Everyone saw I had become obese. Even when I did my naming ceremony, everyone saw it in my pictures. And was body shamed like so much on the internet. When you see those comments you’ll be sad,” she stated.
Tima Kumkum explained that the doctor’s warning eventually pushed her to take responsibility for her health, prompting her to contact Slim and Fit, the brand she was working with as an ambassador, for assistance.
According to her, she was given some of the brand’s products and advised to combine the tea with proper eating habits rather than relying solely on the products to lose weight.
The media personality said she has since achieved her target weight of 75kg, adding that her BMI has improved and her cholesterol levels have also reduced.
“Now I’ve gotten my 75kg, my BMI is correct, my cholesterol has reduced too,” she said.
She attributed her progress to changes in her diet and lifestyle, including avoiding fried foods, drinking warm water in the morning and preparing her own Greek yoghurt. Adding that, she currently eats once a day as part of her eating routine.
“So now I eat once a day. I drink warm water in the morning, I make my own Greek yogurt, I don’t eat fried foods and all. Just healthy eating,” she added.
Tima Kumkum urged people, particularly women who have gained weight after childbirth, to pay attention to their eating habits and take their health seriously.
