Local Government Service replaces computers stolen from North Tongu Assembly by Western Togoland successionist group

The Head of the Local Government Service, Ing. Dr. Nana Ato Arthur has donated three HP branded laptops, two HP desktop computers along with their accessories to the North Tongu District Assembly at Battor in the Volta Region.

In a brief ceremony to hand over the items, Ing. Dr. Arthur explained that, the items were to enable the Assembly effectively conduct its work to ensure improved service delivery.

He reiterated the Local Government’s preparedness to strengthen the capacity of the Assembly in the execution of its mandate. 

The donation exercise is in fulfilment of a promise made by the Head of Service when he visited the Assembly two months ago to commiserate with members of staff who had been assaulted during an attack by the Western Togoland group.North Tongu computers

The successionist group attacked the North Tongu Assembly on Friday September 25, 2020 and assaulted management and some staff of the Assembly. They also broke into some offices and made away with some property including computers and accessories, a vehicle and some official documents among others. 

The District Chief Executive (DCE), Richard Collins Afful who received the items on behalf of the assembly expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the Head of Service for the kind gesture.North Tongu computers

He further gave assurance that the laptops and other items would be properly utilized and maintained for the benefit of the North Tongu District Assembly.

 Ing. Dr. Nana Ato Arthur was accompanied by the Chief Director at the Office of the Head of the Local Government Service (OHLGS), Mr. James Oppong-Mensah. 

On his part, Mr. Oppong- Mensah asked the assembly members to work together and protect the image of the assembly.
