Some residents of the Dangombaline in the Oforikrom Municipality in the Ashanti Region have expressed worry over the high rate of crime in the area in recent times.
Armed robbery attacks, rape and defilement were mentioned as part of the crimes that have become rampant in the area.
This came to light at a clean up exercise on Easter Monday, organised by the Assembly member in the area, John Nketia.
The exercise brought together residents and stakeholders in the area to interact and share developmental issues affecting them and how they could be addressed.
Some of the residents also raised concerns over poor sanitation, lack of water, smoking of cannabis as well as the use of hard drugs as some of the major challenges in the area.
They, therefore, appealed to the Oforikrom Municipal Assembly and the security agencies to help address the situation.
Hon John Nketia, Assembly member of the area, said the Assembly was aware of the situation and assured that efforts were being made to address the situation.
He further urged the residents to willingly pay some some money to enable him and his committee members to make night volunteer effective.
